ESOTERIC

ESOTERIC (2025) serves as a commentary on the societal themes of knowledge, power, and mass influence, presented through perfect, statuesque beings. The overall vibe of the piece is characterized by distinct stylistic movement (robotic and militant vs. thrashing and vibratory vs. smooth and circular movements), intense blood-red lighting, and nude-tone form-fitting outfits that create a beautiful and unsettling uncanny valley effect onstage.

H U M A N

H U M A N (2026) is a multi-style dance piece exploring the wide range and limitations of the human body. Overall, the movement works in deliberate tension between vibratory, energized, and percussive steps, opposing the more circular, gestural, and isolated movements. One particular element is the recurring motif of extended arms, open palms, and an upright posture. The concept for the piece revolves around this pose, drawing direct visual inspiration from Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man. Ultimately, H U M A N serves as a physical expression of our ability to express beauty, power, and reverence for the body, mind, and soul.

A Night At Zinc

A Night At Zinc (2024) is a vibrant portrayal of a youthful night out at Zinc Bar, a subterranean jazz club nestled in the Lower West Side of Manhattan. Zinc Bar holds a special place in my heart, as I frequented it while living alone in NYC prior to attending UMich. I have fond memories of the energetic atmosphere, captivating live music, and unique "Roaring 20s" themed decor. The club's striking African, Latin, and Brazilian rhythms, coupled with Bob the bouncer's signature black bowler cap, created an unforgettable experience for me that is imbued into every movement of this dance piece.
